A thief wearing a skull mask grabbed a woman by her neck, put a gun to her head and robbed her in Bloomingdale late last night, police said.
The armed robbery happened on the 1900 block of 2nd Street NW about 11:45 p.m. Monday.
The victim was walking about a block north of Rhode Island Avenue NW when a man came up to her from behind, according to authorities. He soon after grasped her neck, flashed a handgun and ordered her to give up her keys.
The man then threatened to shoot her, if she screamed. But after he placed his gun next to her head, the woman handed over her briefcase with a MacBook Air and screamed.
The robber didn’t make good on his threat, however. He ran off with the victim’s belongings without firing a shot.
Police described the suspect as a:
Back male, 20-25 years old, slim build, wearing all black top blue jeans and skull Halloween mask.
A young would-be thief also tried to rob a man in Columbia Heights in broad daylight yesterday, according to authorities.

The victim was walking near the DC USA retail development when three or four kids approached him, police said.
One of the kids then flashed a handgun, telling the victim to hand over his wallet and cellphone.
The victim ran off instead.
