Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Crash Near H Street
Someone behind the wheel of a car collided with and critically injured a motorcyclist near H Street this afternoon.
The crash happened around the intersection of 8th and K streets NE, according to D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Doug Buchanan. The area where the collision occurred is about two blocks north of the H Street corridor.
D.C. Fire and EMS personnel were dispatched to the scene of the crash around 2:51 p.m. after an initial report that a man was thrown from his motorcycle and lying unconscious on the ground. The collision with the car possibly knocked the man’s helmet off, Buchanan said.
The man was rushed to a local hospital with critical injuries.
Paramedics communicated with the driver of the car, who was hearing impaired, through a D.C. Police sign language interpreter, Buchanan said. The driver was not taken to the hospital.
Police closed the street where the crash occurred around 3:15 p.m.
