Another Armed Carjacking With Masked Man Reported in Shaw

1600 block of 6th Street NW (Photo via Google Maps)A masked thief with a gun stole a car in Shaw this morning a day after another armed carjacking with a masked robber in the neighborhood, police said.

The carjacking today occurred on the 1600 block of 6th Street NW about 3 a.m. The scene of the crime was just around the corner from the 600 block of Q Street NW, where a carjacking happened about 1 a.m. Wednesday.

A police spokeswoman said the crimes don’t appear to be connected.

In this morning’s robbery, a woman was leaving her Chrysler car when two masked men approached her from behind, according to authorities. One of the men then flashed a handgun and demanded money from the woman, while the other person grabbed the victim’s purse.

The thieves soon after hopped into the woman’s car and drove off.

Police released this tweet with suspect descriptions after the crime:

A cyclist also robbed two men at gunpoint near I-395 this morning, according to authorities.

The armed robbery happened on the 200 block of K Street NW about 6:30 a.m.

The victims were in the area when a man on a bicycle rode up to them, police said. The cyclist then showed a handgun to get the victims to hand over some of their belongings.

The men soon after gave the cyclist their wallets and cellphones. The robber then pedaled away on his bicycle.

Authorities described the suspect as a:

Black male, 18-20 years old, 5’9, 130 pounds, medium complexion, last seen wearing an unknown color jacket, black pants, wearing a dark backpack, riding a green bicycle.

A man and a woman robbed a man at gunpoint near the H Street corridor early this morning, police said.

The armed robbery occurred on the 300 block of K Street NE about 2:45 a.m.

The victim was in the area when the man and the woman approached him, according to authorities. At some point, the man with the woman flashed a handgun, and the duo took the victim’s wallet and cellphone.

Authorities described the suspects as a:

B/M [black male] dark complexion, 5’9″, medium build, wearing red shirt, and brown pants. B/F [black female], 20 to 21, dark complexion, 5’7″, wearing a brown garment.
