Man on Phone Robbed at Gunpoint in Columbia Heights
A man talking on his cellphone lost the device and some of his other belongings to thieves with a gun in Columbia Heights early yesterday morning, police said.
The armed robbery occurred on the 1400 block of Columbia Road NW about 4 a.m. Monday.
The victim was walking in the area when three people drove up to him in a black or gray four-door Nissan car, according to authorities. Two of the individuals then hopped out of the car and went up to the victim.
“Give me your money,” one of them said, while flashing a handgun, according to authorities. The other person went through the victim’s pockets.
The duo eventually left with the victim’s iPhone, keys and sweatshirt.
Police haven’t released any suspect descriptions.
Authorities in the past few days also have released videos in connection with crimes in Shaw and in the H Street corridor area.
The crimes include:
- A theft on the 1000 block of 10th Street NW about 1:30 p.m. Sept. 8.
- An armed robbery on the 1100 block of H Street NE about 11 p.m. Sept. 19.
- An armed robbery on the 1600 block of 5th Street NW about 10:45 p.m. Thursday.
