Meet MPD’s LGBT Liaison, Sgt. Jessica Hawkins — From her office in Dupont Circle, Jessica Hawkins oversees MPD’s LGBT Liaison Unit. Hawkins, who is transgender, helps solve cold cases of transgender people murdered in D.C. She’s also in charge of mending the rift between local law enforcement and the District’s LGBTQ community. Burglar Gets Nine Years in Prison — Donte Purcell Polk, 27, was sentenced to nine years in prison for break-ins that occurred throughout the District last year. MPD identified Polk through his fingerprints and linked him to at least three burglaries. [U.S. Attorney’s Office, D.C.]
