The assault happened on the 1300 block of 19th Street NW about 4:15 a.m. Sunday.

The victim was leaving a bar in the area with his friends when two people with bottles of alcohol in their hands hopped out of a black Dodge Charger just south of the Dupont Circle NW traffic circle, according to authorities.

The duo then punched the man and whacked him in the head with a bottle, knocking him down. The victim soon after heard gunshots as he laid on the ground and his assailants fled. One of the bullets hit a nearby car.

The man’s friends ran away when the attackers appeared, but at least one of them came back to help him.

The victim was brought to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

Police haven’t released any suspect descriptions.

Attackers also brawled with workers at a U Street corridor pizza shop and threatened the eatery’s employees with a knife this past weekend, according to authorities.

The fight occurred just outside the &pizza at 1250 U St. NW about 2 a.m. Sunday.

One of the workers, who was handling security for the restaurant, told three people they couldn’t enter because the eatery had a capacity crowd, police said. An argument then started, drawing another member of &pizza’s security staff to the scene.

Someone punched the second worker soon after, igniting a brawl between all five people. At some point, one of the attackers pulled out a knife and charged toward one of the employees.

The two workers eventually were able to get in the eatery and shut the door as the assailant with the knife banged on a window and threatened to kill.

The three attackers then jumped in a white, four-door Buick with Maryland license plates and drove away.

Authorities haven’t released any descriptions of the assailants.

An &pizza representative wasn’t immediately available to comment.

Somebody shot at a woman in Columbia Heights over the weekend, too, police said.

The attack happened on the 1400 block of Clifton Street NW about 4 a.m. Saturday.

The victim was just east of Meridian Hill Park when someone came up to her and fired a handgun at her, according to authorities. The assailant then fled.

The woman drove herself to a local hospital soon after.

Police haven’t released any suspect information.

Perhaps metro shutting down early and instituting a curfew isn’t the worst idea in the world…
