Masked Thief With Gun Robs Man on Photo Shoot in Truxton Circle
(Updated at 2:35 p.m.) A masked thief robbed a photographer at gunpoint as he set up his equipment in Truxton Circle last night, police said.
The robbery occurred on the 300 block of Florida Avenue NW about 6:15 p.m. Sunday.
The victim was getting ready to photograph two people when a man with a black ski mask walked up to him, according to authorities. The man then flashed a handgun and ran off with more than $2,000 in photography gear, including the victim’s camera.
Police described the suspect as a:
B/M [black male], slim build and wearing black hooded jacket, black mask, blue jeans
According to authorities, other robberies that occurred in the Borderstan coverage area since Friday night included:
- An armed robbery on the 2300 block of 11th Street NW near the Francis L. Cardozo Education Campus about 1 a.m. Saturday. Police haven’t released any suspect information.
- A violent robbery on the 1200 block of H Street NE about 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Police haven’t released any suspect information.
- A violent robbery on the 1400 block of 8th Street NW in Shaw about 3 a.m. Saturday. Police haven’t released any suspect information.
- A violent robbery on the 700 block of Euclid Street NW near Howard University about 8:45 p.m. Saturday. Police haven’t released any suspect information.
- An armed robbery on the 2500 block of Georgia Avenue NW near Howard University about 9 p.m. Saturday. Two people were arrested in connection with the crime.
- A violent robbery on the 3500 block of 14th Street NW in Columbia Heights about 11 p.m. Saturday.
