Man Pummeled, Robbed in Logan Circle
A thief beat up and robbed a man in Logan Circle last night, police said.
The violent robbery happened on the 1800 block of 13th Street NW about 10:30 p.m. Monday.
The victim was walking just north of Garrison Elementary School when a man came up to him from behind and hit him twice in the back of his head, according to authorities. The attacker then threw the man down.
A struggle broke out soon after as the assailant tried to grab a wallet from the victim, who was yelling for help. At some point, the attacker punched the victim twice in his face.
The commotion caught the attention of a good Samaritan, who yelled at the assailant. The attacker then fled with the victim’s wallet.
Police haven’t released a detailed description of the suspect.
A thief also knocked a woman to the ground and wrestled her cellphone from her in Mount Vernon Triangle last night, according to authorities.
The violent robbery occurred on the 400 block of Massachusetts Avenue NW about 8:15 p.m. Monday.
The victim was about two blocks west of I-395 when a young woman tried to snatch the woman’s iPhone from her hand, police said. The young woman then pushed the victim down and was able to get the phone.
The robber fled soon after.
