Zirin is The Nation’s sports editor and a leading commentator on the politics of sports. One of UTNE Reader‘s “Fifty Visionaries Who Are Changing Our World,” he’s writtenA People’s History of Sports in the United States,Bad Sports, and Game Over. He also runs the popular website and radio show, Edge of Sports. His eighth book is an assessment of Brazil’s performance as host of the 2014 World Cup and a preview of its plans for the 2016 Olympics, which will fall amid the country’s increasing waves of protests and former President Lula’s legal problems.
