International Shia Day
Monday, June 13, 2016. 12-1 pm. Farragut Park
Join Shia Rights Watch and other human rights defenders as they remember the thousands of Shia Muslims murdered for their faith, and advocate for their rights. International Shia Day was established on June 12th in remembrance of the 1,700 Shia Muslims that were executed by ISIS on that day in 2015. The 2016 International Shia Day will honor the hundreds of unarmed Nigerian Shia Muslims who were killed by the Nigerian army during raids on their towns, and who continued to die in prison as they were denied medical attention. Join us in remembrance this Monday at Farragut Park, and show your support for Shia Muslims around the world by using the hashtags #612ShiaDay and #IntShiaDay on social media.
