There was a shooting Saturday night around 10:15 pm on the 1400 block of R Street NW. There were no life-threatening injuries from the shooting, according to Jacob Kishter, commander of the MPD Third District.
A resident who lives in the area emailed Borderstan this morning with information he provided the police last night.

“There were at least six to eight shots in quick succession. From the sound it could have been at R and Johnson or in one of the alleys between Johnson and 15th. I saw three young men emerge from Johnson Street onto Street and split up, one of them tucking what appeared to be a handgun into his front waistband.
“He was a black male, about 5’8″ tall, short black hair, white polo-style shirt and jeans. Several minutes later he reunited with the other two guys in front of my house and went in the direction of 15th. One of the others was a 6′ tall black male with long black dreads or braided hair, wearing a gray T-shirt. I got on the phone with 911 early on and had a chance to give descriptions before they’d left our block,” according to the witness who lives in the area near where the shooting occurred.
Police are asking or anyone with information about the shooting to contact them. Kishter posted the following message on the 3D listserv this morning:
“The Third District is investigating a shooting which occurred in the 1400 block of R Street, NW, at approximately 10:15 PM. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Metropolitan Police Department at 202-727-9099 or text at 50411.”
There was also a shooting on the 1400 block of R Street NW around 5 pm on November 17 in which one man was shot in the middle of the street near the intersection with Johnson Avenue.

One man was shot at 4:53 pm Thursday on the 1400 block of R Street NW. According to bystanders and police, the man was shot in the middle of the street, possibly in front of 1416 R Street NW. DC Police blocked off the entire 1400 block with tape; pedestrians were not being allowed to enter the area on R Street between Johnson Avenue and 14th Street NW.
According to The Washington Post, a police spokesman said they are looking for a suspect “described as a 30-year-old man wearing a white T-shirt.”
