(Updated at 1:25 p.m.) Authorities have apprehended a teenage girl wanted for punching and kicking a man during a robbery on a Green Line train in November, the Metro Transit Police Department announced today.
The 15-year-old juvenile was charged with felony assault and robbery in connection with the violence between the Fort Totten and Shaw-Howard Metro stations on Nov. 22.
The girl was arrested at her home in Northeast D.C. without incident this morning, according to MTPD. She had a warrant out for her arrest.
D.C. Police over the weekend announced the arrest of a man suspected of breaking into businesses in Columbia Heights, Mount Pleasant and Adams Morgan.
Authorities say Jerry Kibler Jr., 45, broke into buildings on 13th Street, 14th Street, 18th Street and Lanier Place in a burglary spree that began on Nov. 10.
In one instance, Kibler allegedly shattered a window and snagged an empty cash drawer from Flying Fish Coffee and Tea (3064 Mount Pleasant St. NW). During another burglary, police said Kibler stole $230 in cash, an Amazon Kindle, a Samsung cell phone and Newport cigarettes from the Uptown Mart at 2701 14th St. NW.
Kibler was charged with 11 counts of burglary, police said, but the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone with more information about the case to call them at 202-727-9099.
Information on Kibler’s lawyer was not immediately available.
Police have apprehended a 26-year-old man suspected of a deadly shooting in Shaw earlier this month.
George Edwards of Northwest D.C. was arrested this morning and charged with second degree murder while armed in the Nov. 7 death of 28-year-old Reginald Perry, police said tonight.
Information on the suspect’s lawyer wasn’t immediately available.
Perry, who also was from Northwest D.C., was shot on the 1700 block of 8th Street NW. He then was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with a deadly fight that occurred in Pleasant Plains last weekend.
D.C. Police announced this afternoon that 24-year-old Milkiyas Bayisa of Adelphi, Md., was arrested and charged with second-degree murder for allegedly killing 35 year-old Kassahun Abebe Edo of Irving, Texas, during a fight.
Police responded to a report of a fight on the 700 block of Fairmont Street NW on Aug. 22 at approximately 3:00 a.m. When officers arrived, they found Edo on the ground and unconscious.
Police say that during the fight, Edo was assaulted, fell to the ground and hit his head on the curb.
Though Edo was transported from the scene to a hospital, he died the next day.
