800 block of 1st Street NE (Photo via Google Maps)Two would-be thieves pummeled a man and tried to rob him after he refused to take a “survey” from them Friday, police said.

The attempted robbery occurred on the 800 block of 1st Street NE about 6:45 p.m.

The victim was walking about a block north of Union Station when two people came up to him, according to authorities. They then asked him if he would complete a survey.

The man declined and started to walk away. But the two people punched him in the head.

600 block of 11th Street NW (Photo via Google Maps)Thieves punched and kicked a man until he was unconscious during a robbery in Columbia Heights last night, police said.

The crime happened on the 3600 block of 11th Street NW about 9:30 p.m. Monday.

The victim was crossing Otis Place NW when he first noticed four people, police said. He then saw them again, and they told him to “get down,” knocking him to the ground, according to authorities.

900 block of 5th Street NE (Photo via Google Maps)A man picked up a knife from two would-be thieves and scared them away after they tried to rob him near the H Street corridor last night, police said.

The attempted robbery happened on the 900 block of 5th Street NE about 11 p.m. Thursday.

The victim was walking up to his door about a block north of H Street NE when a man and another person came up to him, according to authorities. The man then flashed a hunting knife and ordered the victim to hand over his wallet.

700 block of Kenyon Street NW (Photo via Google Maps)A would-be thief held a knife to a man’s throat in Park View last night, but left him alone after discovering the victim had no money, police said.

The attempted armed robbery occurred on the 700 block of Kenyon Street NW about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim was walking in an alley about a block north of Bruce Monroe Community Park when a man came up to him from behind, according to authorities. The new arrival then grabbed the victim by his shirt and put a knife to the man’s throat before ordering him to hand over his money.

The man with the knife soon after went into the victim’s pocket to grab his wallet. But when he pulled the wallet out, he discovered it was empty.

He then put it back in the victim’s pocket and fled.

Police haven’t released a detailed description of the suspect.

1200 block of U Street NW (Photo via Google Maps)A man made a weapon out of a post used to hold up rope for crowd control near the U Street Metro station over the weekend, police said.

The assault with a stanchion happened on the 1200 block of U Street NW about 3:45 a.m. Sunday.

The man was arguing with another man outside of the &pizza on the block when the attacker punched him and then hit the victim over the head with the pole, according to authorities.

1000 block of K Street NE (Photo via Google Maps)Three thieves with guns robbed a man and tied him up with a cord and a shower curtain near the H Street corridor yesterday afternoon, police said.

The armed robbery occurred on the 1000 block of K Street NE about noon Monday.

The victim was outside a home in the area when one of the robbers came up to him, according to authorities. One, or both, of them then smoked a cigarette. But it wasn’t clear whether they knew each other.

The thief eventually left and returned with two armed individuals. The victim and the three people went inside the home soon after.

300 block of H Street NE (Photo via Google Maps)A young would-be thief tried to steal a good Samaritan’s cellphone after she came to the aid of a distressed woman on the H Street corridor last night, police said.

The attempted robbery happened on the 300 block of H Street NE about 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim was near the Giant grocery store when she saw the woman crying, according to authorities. She then went to check on her.

A kid arrived soon after and tried to snatch the victim’s iPhone as she helped the distressed woman.

3000 block of Georgia Avenue NW (Photo via Google Maps)A would-be thief pulled out a gun and tried to rob a man in Park View earlier this week after he said he wasn’t from the area, according to a police report Borderstan obtained today.

The attempted robbery happened on the 3000 block of Georgia Avenue NW about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The victim was walking from a store across from the Bruce Monroe Community Park when someone came up to him, authorities said. That individual then asked the man whether he was “from around the area.”

The man, who lives in Maryland, said he didn’t reside in the neighborhood. The person who approached the victim then flashed a handgun in an effort to rob the man.

But the victim ran to his car and drove away.

Police haven’t released any suspect information.

(Updated Friday at 5:11 p.m. with video of the incident. See above.) A man threatened to shoot a worker at a Columbia Heights restaurant in an attempted robbery yesterday afternoon, police said.

The incident happened in the IHOP on the 1400 block of Irving Street NW about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The would-be thief made his threat with a handwritten note on a takeaway menu he gave to the IHOP employee, police said.

“This is a robbery,” the note said, according to authorities. “Don’t say sh-t, or I will blow your f–king brains out.”

But the man never showed a weapon and ran away after the worker said the cash register was empty.

900 block of W Street NW (Photo via Google Maps)A man beat up a woman before he robbed her near the U Street corridor over the weekend, police said.

The violent robbery occurred on the 900 block of W Street NW about 2:15 a.m. Sunday.

The woman was standing in the area when the man approached her, without saying anything, according to authorities. He then punched her repeatedly in the face, knocking her to the ground

The man continued to hit her soon after her fall and took her money, iPhone and other belongings before fleeing.

The assault happened on the 2100 block of 4th Street NW about 10:30 p.m.

The victims were preparing to get into their car in an alley in the area when a man drove up to them in his vehicle, according to authorities.

The attempted robbery happened on the 3200 block of 14th Street NW about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. The block is just north of the DC USA retail development.

The victim was in the area when an unspecified number of boys came up to him, according to authorities. One of them then ordered the victim to give up his bike, but he declined.

The stabbing happened on the 2100 block of 14th Street NW about 3:15 a.m. Saturday. The area is just north of the Frank D. Reeves Municipal Center at 14th and U streets NW.

The victim was on a sidewalk in the area when a man came up to him, according to authorities. The new arrival asked for a cigarette and ordered the victim to hand over money.

The attempted robbery happened on the 600 block of T Street NW about 7 a.m. Monday. The block includes The Howard Theatre and the Right Proper Brewing Company Shaw Brewpub & Kitchen.

The victim was in the area when two individuals punched him in the face and told him they were going to rob him, according to authorities. They then went through the victim’s pockets, but fled without taking anything.

The attempted robbery happened on the 1800 block of 9th Street NW about 9 p.m. Thursday. The area is about two blocks west of the north entrance to the Shaw-Howard University Metro station.

The victim was walking on 9th Street when a man went up to him, according to authorities. The man then ordered the victim to empty his pockets, but he refused.
