Pitchers and catchers have already reported to spring training in Florida and Arizona, it’s been above 60 degree two days in a row… if you are still convinced it’s not quite springtime yet, the announcement of Little League sign-ups should convince you.

Banneker City Little League is open to boys and girls, aged 4 to 12, who live in Ward 1. Games take place at Banneker Recreation Center (Georgia Avenue and Howard Place NW) and at Harrison Recreation Center (13th and V Streets NW).

For more info, check out the Banneker City Little League site to register. There’s something for everyone, ranging from T-ball; to AAA division ball (where players learn to throw three pitches, tricks about bat speed and base-running skills); to softball.

Harrison Field is also the home of the U Street Movie Series, “Harrison Field Under the Stars.” The monthly showings run from May through October.
