Celebrity comedians will descend on the Lincoln Theatre (1215 U Street NW) on Oct. 1 for the opening night of this year’s Bentzen Ball festival, Brightest Young Things (BYT) announced today.
Though most of the schedule is to-be-determined, the opening night lineup includes Tig Notaro, Janeane Garofalo and a cast reunion of beloved ’90s cartoon Dr. Katz starring Jonathan Katz and Laura Silverman.
“We feel like in many ways ‘Dr. Katz’ is the godfather of the kind of comedy that is the Bentzen Ball,” BYT founder Svetlana Legetic told Express.
“There will be some [comedians] coming back but a lot of the shows are special, one-of-a-kind shows,” continued Legetic in the Express article. “It will allow us to have more improv talents and hosts to [show] the breadth of the comedy offerings — as opposed to just the straightforward stand-up format.”
Opening night tickets are $35 and go on sale on Friday. An all-access pass that grants entry to all of the festival’s shows is on sale now for $100.
