Christmas Tree Collection DPW

After January 15 put your Christmas Tree with trash collection. (Borderstan)

Monday is the official celebration of the birthday of Martin Luther King. Here’s the weekend holiday schedule in DC for trash/recycling collection and for parking enforcement:

  • Trash: The Department of Public Works (DPW) will not pick up trash and recyclables on Monday, January 17. Pick up will resume on Tuesday. Trash and recycling collections in once-a-week collection neighborhoods will “slide” to the next day for the remainder of the week. In neighborhoods with twice-weekly trash collections, Monday and Thursday collections will be made Tuesday and Friday, and Tuesday and Friday collections will be made Wednesday and Saturday.
  • Parking: Regular parking enforcement will be suspended on Monday, January 17. You won’t have to feed the meters or move your car from rush-hour lanes. Also, DPW will not tow abandoned vehicles.

Christmas Tree Collection

DPW will collect holiday trees (please remove ornaments, lights, tinsel, etc.). After today (January 15),  you may put your tree where you put your trash and recycling, and DPW  will collect it from there, depending on the truck’s capacity.
