Bring your blanket and enjoy summertime in Dupont Circle while watching a movie. On Friday, June 21, Dupont Festival is offering the opportunity to watch a classic movie in Dupont Circle Park with its third annual Cinema in the Circle.
Join Harrison Ford in the 1981 film, come out with your friends and popcorn, and settle in for an evening of Raiders of the Lost Ark in the heart of the nation’s capital. The movie starts at 8:30 pm – don’t be late, or you might miss your chance to snag a seat.

So bring a blanket, some friends and some popcorn, and settle in for an evening of “Back to the Future” in the heart of the nation’s capital. The movie starts at 9 pm – don’t be late, or you might miss your chance to snag a seat (and to see Michael J. Fox in his undies).

New York Same-Sex Marriage
Alright alright, it’s not about Borderstan, nor is it even about our humble District, but the big news this weekend came from a bit North and it seemed irresponsible to ignore it. After years of debate, New York is finally allowing same-sex marriage, becoming the largest state in the country to do so. All but one Democrat and even four Republicans in the state Senate voted in favor of the bill, which passed by a slim 33 to 29 margin. New York becomes the sixth state to allow same-sex marriage, joining Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont — and of course, the District of Columbia. Oh… if you live in Rhode Island or Maryland, those states will recognize your same-sex marriage from another state, but you cannot get married in either of them.

Grab a lawn chair or a blanket and head to Dupont Circle on Friday evening. Dupont Festival is back with a summer event: “Cinema in the Circle.” Tonight, June 24, you can watch the 1981 classic, E.T., in the Circle at 9:15 pm.
Dupont Festival is organized by Advisory Neighborhood Commission 2B and Historic Dupont Circle Main Streets. Previous events have included FotoWeek NightVisions, Police Night Out, Soccer in the Circle and Green in the Circle. The film is being sponsored by The Dupont Circle Hotel and Swank Audio Visuals.
