Crime news from Dupont-Logan-U Street.
A juvenile male with a knife approached a woman as she was entering her car around shortly before 4 pm Monday on the 900 block of T Street NW. He demanded her car, but fled after she called the police. The attempted carjacking occurred near the woman’s house, according to DC Police.
Police units were in the area and arrested the suspect nearby on the 1100 block of French Street NW. The woman was not injured and her car was not taken, according to DC Police.

Carjacking at 17th and M NW
Just after 3 am, a carjacking occurred at M and 17th Streets NW according to a tweet and a DC Police Alert. Police are searching for a 2008 black Jeep Cherokee with black rims and Maryland license plate tag number 1AB0462. The suspects are described as two black males wearing ski masks, one carrying a handgun.

15th Street Assault with Gun
Just after 5 am police responded to an assault with a deadly weapon incident in the 1200 block of 15th Street NW according to a tweet. A victim was assaulted with a gun but was not injured. Police announced one arrest in this case. There is no indication the two incidents are related.

December 2 Update: According to Third District Commander Jacob Kishter, the vehicle was recovered Saturday evening in the First District. One arrest was made in the case.

The Metropolitan Police Department reported an armed carjacking just before 1 am in the 1200 block of U Street NW. According to Third District Commander Jacob Kishter, a valet was carjacked by two masked men in dark clothing.
The car is described as a black four door Mercedes Benz with a partial Purple Heart Maryland tag number of 045 and was last seen driving towards V Street NW.
The suspects are described as two black males, the first about 5’4″ wearing a white jacket, blue jeans, and a white turban around his head, and the second wearing a gray jacket and blue jeans and carrying a handgun.
The DC Police Alert for this incident, sent by email at 1:23 am, incorrectly stated that the carjacking occurred in the 1200 block of U Street NE. There is no 1200 block of U Street NE.

Here’s the info from the DC Police Alert, it happened at 10:33 am this morning at 16th and Q NW. That’s a fairly busy intersection and the DC Jewish Community Center is at the southwest corner.
