DC Police reported a gun robbery in the 1400 block of P Street NW just after 6:30 pm Monday evening. The suspect was described as a black male in his ’50s wearing a beige jacket. The block is home to Whole Foods and a number of other well-know businesses, including a large number of restaurants. The Logan Circle shopping and dining strip is normally crowded with pedestrians at this time of day.
The 1400 block of P Street NW has recently been the street block in Borderstan with the greatest number of serious crime incidents (First Six Months of 2012: Crime in Borderstan Up Slightly from 2011), although most of these incidents are theft cases. In the first six months of 2012, two of the 26 incidents on this block were robberies, but neither involved a gun.
Tonight’s incident follows a series of robberies involving both knives and guns, as well as force and violence, in the Dupont-Logan-U Street area in the past two months.

There were two gun robberies Tuesday night, November 27, about one hour apart. The first incident was around 9:30 pm at 19th and R Streets NW — just east of Connecticut Avenue NW — and involved three men. The second robbery occurred around 10:20 pm on the 1800 block of R Street NW, just west of New Hampshire Avenue, and also involved three suspects.

The Metropolitan Police Department announced arrests in three recent robberies in the Borderstan area. On Friday, October 26, 30-year old Tarius Guy was arrested for the robbery of Bill’s Cleaners in the 1300 block of Florida Avenue NW on the morning of September 26 (Police Seek Suspect in Florida Avenue Robbery).

Guy was charged with armed robbery and is currently being held without bond in the D.C. jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 1. According to North Carolina Department of Public Safety records, Guy had previous robbery-related convictions in the Charlotte area in 2000 and 2003.
Police arrested an adult male for attempted robbery just after midnight Saturday, October 20 in the 2100 block of 9th Street NW. The suspect allegedly put on a mask, showed a gun, and tried to rob two victims in a parking lot.
Police also made a robbery arrest on the evening of Wednesday, October 24. The suspect allegedly took the victim’s bicycle at the intersection of 8th Street NW and R Street NW.

A victim was robbed at gunpoint at about 10:30 am Wednesday morning, September 26, in the 1300 block of Florida Avenue NW, according to a tweet from the Metropolitan Police Department. The suspect in the gun robbery was described as a black male with short hair, wearing a black skull cap, yellow shirt, and black pants. He was last seen heading southbound on 13th Street NW.
This is the second armed robbery in Borderstan today. Early this morning, a victim was robbed at gunpoint in the 1300 block of P Street NW near Logan Circle (see Midnight Armed Robbery 1300 Block of P Street NW).

The DC Police reported that a gun robbery occurred after midnight this morning, September 26, at 1303 P Street NW. The 1300 block runs west from Logan Circle. There were two robbers, one armed with a handgun.

Update: Second District Police released the following information on the MPD Second District listserv about the Sunday morning gun robbery on the 1800 block of 19th Street NW:
“On Sunday, August 26, 2012, at approximately 3:00 AM , the victim was standing at the corner of 19th Street and T Street, Northwest, when two (2) suspects approached and brandished a black handgun and demanded money from the victim. The victim complied by giving the suspects money and a cell phone. The victim was not physically injured during this offense. The suspects fled the scene on foot southbound on 19th Street. Suspect #1 was described as a black male, 17-19 years of age, 5’10” skinny build, dark complexion, wearing white t-shirt and armed with a black handgun. Suspect #2 was described as a black male, 17-19 years of age, 5’7″ regular build, dark complexion, no clothing description given. The victim flagged down a police patrol car and reported the offense.
“Any citizen having information or observing a person matching the above description should immediately call police on 9-1-1 or at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. We also ask that the public contact us immediately if they observe any suspicious activity in their neighborhood.”

DC Police are asking for assistance in identifying the suspects in two recent armed robberies of 7-Eleven stores in the area. Police have not announced whether the two cases may be related.

In the first incident, the 7-Eleven at 1622 7th Street NW, near the Shaw-Howard University Metro station, was robbed by two masked men at about 5:30 am the morning of July 24. MPD has posted a video with surveillance footage from the armed robbery. No one was injured but the suspects did take money from the store’s cash register.
The 7-Eleven at 1115 U Street NW was also robbed by two masked men in an incident early Tuesday morning (see U Street Gun Robbery: 7-Eleven Robbed by Masked Gunmen). The two suspects stole money from the register and then fled in an unknown direction. No injuries were reported.
According to a news release from the Police, the suspects are described as “a black male in his early 20s, 5’11-6’0 tall, slim build, dark complexion, last seen wearing a full mask, gray jeans and a gray shirt,” and “black (unknown sex) in their early 20s, 5’6″ tall, slim build, medium to light complexion and last seen wearing a face mask, blue jeans and dark hooded shirt.” MPD also posted a photo of the two suspects — although identifying them may be difficult as both are masked.
Update: Police have now also released a video with surveillance footage from the U Street 7-Eleven robbery.
Anyone with information in either of the robberies is asked to call MPD investigators at 202-727-9099. MPD offers rewards of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest in a robbery case.
