A Columbia Heights spot for donuts has closed its doors for good.
Zombie Coffee and Donuts shuttered last Friday. Neighborhood blog PoPville was the first to write about the rumored closure.
Over the weekend, a representative for the coffee company confirmed it had closed its location at 3100 14th St. NW.
“Columbia Heights just didn’t have the full time donut-eating traffic to maintain business,” a company rep told Borderstan. “We cut staff, we cut hours, and in the end, it just turned out Columbia Heights wasn’t ‘our’ spot.”
The shop first opened last year.

Want a free donut today? Hope you don’t mind waiting.
As many as two dozen people were spotted lining up for free donuts at the Dupont Circle Krispy Kreme (1350 Connecticut Ave. NW) around 9:30 a.m. today. And it’s likely to get crazier later, employees at the store said.
The donut chain is slinging free pastries all day today as part of its National Donut Day promotion. Patrons can visit any Krispy Kreme for a free donut of any variety, the company said in a press release.
A Dunkin’ Donuts is opening today at the intersection of 19th and L streets NW, next to Chop’t and City Sports.
Though the location was not yet open for business when Borderstan visited, several employees were seen working inside, and it appeared as though fresh donuts lined the rack behind the counter.
An employee inside said the location would be open by around 2:15 p.m. today.
