You have more than 30 restaurants in the neighborhood to choose from for lunch or dinner on April 25 — it shouldn’t be a hard choice when it comes to supporting a great cause.

Food and Friends is ready to celebrate its 17th Annual Dining Out for Life this Thursday. More than 100 restaurants in the DC area will donate 25 to 110 percent of their proceeds to the organization. The proceeds will help make sure that children and adults facing HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses receive the daily, nutritious meals they need.

More than 30 restaurants in the Dupont, Logan and U Street area are participating in Food & Friends Dining Out for Life; check the full list to see all the options.

Dining Out for Life is an international event with funds raised in that city staying in that city.

Get ready, make your reservations and enjoy lunch or dinner for a good cause. Can’t make it out this Thursday? You can still give online to Food and Friends.

Nothing can be more American than pie. City Dogs Rescue is participating in Food & Friends’ “Slice of Life” fundraiser as part of the Friendship Hospital for Animals Team. For every 20 pies sold by the end of today, Thursday, November 15th at 11:59 pm, Friendship Hospital will generously give a $450 credit in veterinary services to City Dogs Rescue. It is a great opportunity to help rescue dogs with medical treatment.

In addition to helping City Dogs Rescue, the funds raised will provide nourishing, life-sustaining meals to the nearly 2,900 children and adults facing HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses who rely on Food & Friends for their daily meals and nutrition services.

Don’t need a pie? You can buy one to donate to a Food & Friends client. Any additional donations (with pie or without) will go to Food & Friends.

There are four different pies to select from and you need to use the following link to order. Pies can be picked-up at several locations in DC, Maryland and Virginia on Tuesday, November 20.

It’s fall! Orange leaves, holiday parties and holiday… baking. Oh, I know. You had the best of intentions. You were going to make cookies for the cookie exchange this year and even a pumpkin pie from scratch!

But the calendar already seems to be closing in on you, the to-do list is looming and frankly, there are too many boozy happy hours to get to!

Through November 17th, you can purchase holiday pies for yourself, friends and loved ones, or a Food & Friends client. $25, the cost of one of its gourmet pies, provides a full day of meals for a client battling HIV/AIDS or cancer.

That’s okay. We’ve got you covered! Food & Friends, the same folks who host the annual Dine Out For Life event, are holding their 5th Annual Slice of Life Thanksgiving pie sale. Food & Friends provides more than 1 million meals for folks in our community every year, and they can’t do it alone.

Their goal this year is to sell 7,200 pies, which will in turn feed 7,200 Food & Friends clients. Yep, one pie for one full day of nutritious, delicious meals for someone in need.

Where do you get one of these tasty pies? From Food & Friends:

Pies may be purchased directly from Food & Friends or through one of our corporate or individual pie sellers through November 17. Visit Food & Friends  to find a directory of pie sellers, sign up to help sell pies or purchase online via the website. Pre-purchased pies can be picked up on Tuesday, November 22nd at Food & Friends or 25 convenient CVS/pharmacy locations through the region.

Two birds. One stone. You show up with a handmade pie to your Thanksgiving feast AND you make  sure someone in your community does not go without food for one day.
