A gastropub that’s been years in the making near Howard University appears to have set a firm opening date.

The Hilltop Bar and Restaurant (2737 Sherman Ave. NW) is scheduled to open Nov. 11, according to a recent Facebook post. Local blog New Columbia Heights was the first to spot the new opening date.

“[The Hilltop] is opening Nov. 11,” the Oct. 29 post reads. “Can’t wait to see you.”

This isn’t the first time the eatery’s owners said they were ready to start slinging food and drinks, however. The restaurant also said it would open last September, then again last May.

When the business finally opens its doors, it will serve a menu that includes offerings such as roasted brussels sprouts, cauliflower and burrata salad, according to the eatery’s Facebook page.

An anticipated gastropub is finally opening near Columbia Heights.

The Hilltop Bar and Restaurant will open at 2737 Sherman Avenue NW in September, says the eatery’s Facebook page.

The bar will serve a menu of American food and German beer.

The eatery’s progress has previously been chronicled on D.C. blogs PoPville and New Columbia Heights.

Most recently, the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board approved the eatery’s settlement agreement with ANC 1B last December.

The Gryphon — a 5,000 square foot gastropub and sports bar — will open on Connecticut Avenue in Dupont Circle Saturday, March 2.

The 192-seat space will feature two bars, 31 televisions and “modernized bar bites” from Executive Chef Joseph Evans of brother restaurant Lost Society. The Gryphon will also have a DJ booth in the space that formerly served as the vault to the Hamilton National Bank.

As for food, guests can expect a well-rounded menu. The Gryphon will serve a variety of appetizers, such as chili-and-soy gryphon wings and duck rillette with crostini. The sandwich list includes an oyster po’ boy; braised short ribs make an appearance under the list of main courses.

To make the bar even more social, The Gryphon will use an integrated media system that allows bar managers to control the televisions — which will also stream the pub’s social media feeds — with iPad or Android tablets. The set-up allows for patrons to interact with The Gryphon directly through social media while they are at the restaurant, and read what others are saying, as well.

The Gryphon is located at 1337 Connecticut Avenue NW. After the grand opening on March 2, The Gryphon will be open Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 pm until midnight; Thursday from 5 pm until 2 am; Friday and Saturday from 5 pm until 3 am; and closed on Sunday and Monday.
