On Monday, October 15, the District’s five EatWell DC restaurants will donate 15 percent of their dining (and drinking) proceeds to DC Greens, an organization that focuses on food and community in DC.
DC Greens connects District communities to healthy food by supporting school gardens in all eight Wards of the city and by managing food access initiatives so that low-income communities have access to fresh, healthy and local food. DC Greens also runs the DC Farm to School Network, deepening students’ connection to their food through experiential learning.
To help support DC Green’s community-wide efforts in health and sustainability, GiveWell DC, the charitable arm of EatWell DC, selected DC Greens for the October 15th Dine-Out event.
Four of Five Restaurants in Neighborhood

On Monday, August 13, five EatWell DC restaurants in Borderstan will donate 15% of their dining (and drinking) proceeds to City Dogs Rescue, a DC-based nonprofit that rescues adoptable dogs in overcrowded and high-kill shelters.
In its first ten months since formation in 2011, City Dogs Rescue adopted out 73 dogs (to date) to families in the DC area, many of which were within days and hours of being euthanized. However, costs associated with rescue are not cheap, and services such as urgent veterinary care, vaccinations, transport and shelter fees rack up.
To help ensure the nonprofit meets its critical rescue and operating costs, GiveWell DC, the charitable arm of EatWell DC, selected City Dogs Rescue for the August 13th Dine-Out event.
The event will run from 5:30 until 10 pm at Logan Tavern (1423 P Street NW), Commissary (1443 P Street NW), Grillfish (1200 New Hampshire Avenue NW), The Heights (3115 14th Street NW) and The Pig (1320 14th Street NW).
All neighbors, friends, dog lovers and foodies are encouraged to come out, eat and support the local organization. To ensure guests are having a doggone good time, City Dogs Rescue will even bring some of its adoptable pooches to greet guests outside two of the restaurants.
Dinner reservations for Logan Tavern, Commissary, Grillfish and The Heights can be made on Open Table. Make sure to note City Dogs Rescue in the “Special Requests” section of the online form. Please call (202) 290-2821 to make reservations for The Pig.
Looking to offer more support? City Dogs Rescue is looking for hosts and volunteers for the Monday night event. Hosts are asked to bring at least four friends or family members with them, and volunteers are needed to help the organization handle the dogs and staff the information and merchandise tables.
For more information on becoming a host, contact Meredith[AT]@CityDogsRescueDC.org; to volunteer for the event, sign-up on the organization’s website.
