A robber punched a man who was on his way to his girlfriend’s house in Lanier Heights last night, according to D.C. Police.
The violent robbery happened on the 1800 block of Clydesdale Place NW just after 10:10 p.m., police said.
According to a police report, a man was walking to his girlfriend’s house when he was approached by four men. One of the men in the group punched the man in the jaw and snatched his backpack, which contained a laptop and other personal belongings, police said.
The assailant and three other people were last seen heading north on the 1800 block of Clydesdale Place NW, according to authorities.
A man beat up a woman before he robbed her near the U Street corridor over the weekend, police said.
The violent robbery occurred on the 900 block of W Street NW about 2:15 a.m. Sunday.
The woman was standing in the area when the man approached her, without saying anything, according to authorities. He then punched her repeatedly in the face, knocking her to the ground
The man continued to hit her soon after her fall and took her money, iPhone and other belongings before fleeing.
Opponents of new pop-up homes in Lanier Heights are one step away from making it harder for developers to build those houses in the neighborhood.
The D.C. Zoning Commission last night unanimously endorsed a petition that generally would limit residential construction in Lanier Heights to one- or two-unit homes. The petition, brought by Lanier Heights residents and Advisory Neighborhood Commission 1C, which represents the neighborhood, is set to receive a final vote before the zoning panel next month, after a 30-day public review period.
“I must say that I think the ANC made an excellent case,” Zoning Commission vice chairwoman Marcie Cohen said yesterday. “I commend them for their clarity and completeness in their presentation.”
Someone choked and tried to rape a woman who was held in a car against her will in the Logan Circle area over the weekend, police said.
The kidnapping and attempted sexual assault happened about 4:30 a.m. Sunday. The exact location of the crime wasn’t known. But the woman was seen on the 1300 block of M Street NW before the incident.
The victim was in the area when she ended up in the car, which had four other individuals in it, according to authorities. It wasn’t immediately clear if she was forced into the vehicle, however.
A man with a gun robbed a woman in Columbia Heights yesterday afternoon, police said.
The armed robbery happened on the 1300 block of Kenyon Street NW about 3:15 p.m. The area is about a block east of the DC USA retail development.
The woman was walking in the vicinity when she felt a tug on her purse, according to authorities. She then turned around and saw a man with a handgun.
