Death at DC9 Friday Morning

Few things are clear about the events that took place outside DC9 in the early morning hours of Friday, October 15th. What we do know is that after an altercation outside of the club, 5 DC9 employees were arrested in connection with the death of Ali Ahmed Mohammed. Washington City Paper has a thorough recap and check out TBD‘s ‘evolution’ of the story through Twitter. A vigil was held last night and we’ll have our story this evening.

Shots Fired at the Pentagon

A story that got less local coverage than you’d expect was this morning’s shooting at the Pentagon. WTOP has the report – a high-powered rifle fired between five and seven shots at the Pentagon building this morning. No one was injured and little damage was done, other than a few windowpanes being shattered.

MidCity Arts District – The Whole Story

TBD’s Sommer Mathis has an incredibly thorough history of the Mid City Arts District branding, from inception to grant disbursement. This project has grown quite contentious with the local residents. Read her story and it will all suddenly make sense why branding and banners have raised this much ire. Also, see Tom Hay’s most recent piece on the subject, Arts District Branding: What’s Next?

Jury Selection Started in Levy Case

And just outside of Borderstan… The Post has the download on day two of the Chandra Levy jury selection. In the ultimate civic multiple choice test, a 55-page questionnaire was given to prospective jurors as attorneys attempt to find Washingtonians who don’t remember the summer of Levy, Condit and full out fear of Rock Creek Park after dark.
