A pet daycare and grooming business in Logan Circle is set to temporarily close next week, then reopen under a new name next month.

An employee at Planet Pet (1738 14th St. NW) said today the store will close on Nov. 14 at 10 p.m., but will reopen under a new name and new management in “mid-December.”

A sign posted on the door of the business promised a “new name [and] a new vibe” and that “D.C.’s next big pet pavilion is coming to the 14th Street corridor.”

The employee at the store did not provide more details as to what that might mean, but said more information about the forthcoming changes would be available soon.

The final day for Planet Pet’s daycare service is this Sunday, and all boarding dogs must be picked up by 9 p.m next Monday. The store is also currently hosting a clearance sale with discounts up to 30 percent, said the employee.

"Georgia Lost Dog"

Her name is Georgia and she was last seen around Meridian Hill Park.

Please help us find Georgia. She got out of her collar in Meridian Hill Park. Georgia has been spotted at the Florida Avenue end of the park in the last 24 hours. She is scared and may try to run, so if you spot her, call Planet Pet at 202-986-6301 or 202-705-4791. Her owners have offered a reward for her safe return!

Correction: In the original version of the story, Borderstan incorrectly identified the owner of Planet Pet as Linda Welch. The business is owned by Rock and Susie Benson.

Two beloved 14th Street sister businesses are officially gone from the corridor. Green Pets and Dogs By Day have moved and rebranded as Planet Pet as one businesses at 1711 Florida Avenue, the corner of Florida and Champlain Street NW. Friday was opening day.

Fortunately, store consultant Linda Welch said the owners area planning a boutique pet store at 1410 14th Street, hopefully the first week of November.

The new 14th Street store will offer an expanded selection of pets supplies, including many items from local suppliers, as well as grooming services. It will be in the former site of Mar Del Plata restaurant, between Rhode Island and P NW.
