Young thieves robbed two dry cleaners in Dupont Circle and Shaw yesterday, police said.
The robberies happened at Happy Cleaners (1509 17th St. NW) about 10:45 a.m. and Red Valet Cleaners (910 P St. NW) about 1:15 p.m. It wasn’t immediately clear if the crimes were connected.
At Happy Cleaners, about a half-dozen boys entered the shop and took $160 from a cash register, which one of them opened, according to authorities. They then fled.

As for Red Valet Cleaners, two teenage boys walked into the store and took money from a cash register when two employees were in the back of the shop, according to authorities. One of the workers tried to stop one of the thieves by grabbing his arm, but let go after becoming scared.
The robbers eventually ran off with $172 in cash.

A man fought off a knife-wielding would-be thief who tried to steal a bicycle with an accomplice in Shaw this past weekend, according to authorities.
The incident occurred on the 1500 block of 6th Street NW about 7:45 p.m. Sunday.
The man was smoking outside when he saw two people starting to cut the lock off a bike near P Street NW, police said. He then confronted them, and one of the individuals came at him with a kitchen knife.
A thief asked a man for the time and then joined another robber in punching the person repeatedly before robbing him in Shaw early this morning, according to authorities.
The violent robbery happened on the 1200 block of 7th Street NW about 1:45 a.m. today.
The victim was walking just east of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center when a man came up to him, police said.
A thief beat up and robbed a man in Logan Circle last night, police said.
The violent robbery happened on the 1800 block of 13th Street NW about 10:30 p.m. Monday.
The victim was walking just north of Garrison Elementary School when a man came up to him from behind and hit him twice in the back of his head, according to authorities. The attacker then threw the man down.
A struggle broke out soon after as the assailant tried to grab a wallet from the victim, who was yelling for help. At some point, the attacker punched the victim twice in his face.
A man lost his shoes and glasses to two men who rode up to him on bicycles and robbed him at gunpoint in Park View over the weekend, police said.
The armed robbery occurred on the 2800 block of Georgia Avenue NW about 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
The victim was just north of Howard University’s campus when the cyclists approached him, according to authorities. One of the bike riders then pointed a handgun at the victim’s forehead.
A man who said he had a gun demanded money from a Foggy Bottom bank yesterday afternoon, but didn’t get any, according to authorities.
The attempted robbery happened in the Citibank at 2221 I St. NW about 2:45 p.m. Thursday.
The man walked into the bank across from the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro station and gave a teller a note, police said.
“Got gun 7500 no dye packs,” the message said, according to authorities.
The bank employee then brought the note to her supervisor. But the man left while the teller was bringing it to the attention of her boss.

A thief punched a man and robbed him in Mount Pleasant last night, police said.
The violent robbery happened on the 3300 block of 17th Street NW about 8:45 p.m. Monday.
The victim was walking just north of Lamont Park when five men surrounded him, according to authorities. One of them then hit the victim in his right ear.
A woman bit a thief who stole her iPhone in Park View over the weekend, according to authorities.
The robbery happened on the 700 block of Kenyon Street NW about 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
The woman was walking about a block north of the Bruce Monroe Community Park when a man came up to her, police said.
“Do you know where ‘easterns’ is?” the man asked, according to authorities. It wasn’t exactly clear what he wanted, however.
A would-be thief punched a man twice and tried to rob him in Mount Pleasant last night, police said.
The violent attempted robbery happened on the 1800 block of Newton Street NW about 6:15 p.m. Thursday.
The man was about two blocks south of Piney Branch Park when three men came up to him, according to authorities. One of the men then punched him in his face.
The victim tried to run home, but the attacker grabbed onto the man’s messenger bag in an effort to steal it. The victim started yelling for help soon after.
The would-be robber punched the victim again and tried to get into a pocket in the man’s pants.
The assailant and the two other men with him then fled.
The victim declined medical attention.
Police haven’t released detailed descriptions of the suspects.

A group of people wanted in a robbery in which thieves beat a man unconscious in Columbia Heights this month have appeared in surveillance footage, according to authorities.
The violent robbery happened on the 3600 block of 11th Street NW about 9:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7.
Video police released yesterday shows five people walking around the Walgreens in Chinatown. At least two of them buy items at the store.
The people in the footage used the victim’s credit cards, according to authorities. The victim lost his wallet after a group of people punched and kicked him, causing him to lose consciousness.

Someone with a knife beat up and robbed a man in Columbia Heights last week.
The violent robbery happened on the 3500 block of 10th St. NW around noon Friday, according to a D.C. Police report.
A man was walking in an alley near the street when someone approached him from behind and punched him in the eye, police said. The assailant then stood over the man and hit him repeatedly in the face and body.
Then, the thief pulled out a knife and went through the man’s pockets. The man grabbed the knife during the robbery, cutting his hand, according to authorities.
The robber ran off with $150 in cash, an iPhone and some marijuana.
Police did not provide a lookout for the suspect.

Cameras have caught a woman and another person wanted in a robbery in which a man was stabbed last month near the H Street corridor, according to authorities.
The violent robbery happened on the 1100 block of I Street NE about 10:30 p.m. Oct. 11.
A man was between Florida Avenue and H Street NE when another man with a knife stabbed him in his back and took some of his belongings, according to authorities.
The victim was brought to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Video police distributed today in connection with the crime shows someone with a hooded sweatshirt walking down a sidewalk. Later, a woman is seen appeared to buy food at a 7-Eleven.

The robbery happened on the 3100 block of Mount Pleasant Street NW about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.
The victim was about a block south of Lamont Park when a teenage boy came up to him, according to authorities. The teen then grabbed the victim’s iPhone and demanded his passcode.
The victim tried to get his cellphone back. But the robber knocked the victim down and ran off.

Two thieves stole a cellphone from a woman as she used it to photograph the moon near the H Street corridor last night, a day after a “supermoon” rose over the District, police said.
The robbery happened on the 800 block of 6th Street NE about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday. The moon still appeared larger than normal yesterday evening following Monday’s supermoon, which NASA scientists said was the closest full moon to Earth since 1948.
The victim had her phone in the air to snap a photo at 6th and I streets NE when two boys came up to her, according to authorities. One of them then snatched her phone and her purse.
Two would-be thieves pummeled a man and tried to rob him after he refused to take a “survey” from them Friday, police said.
The attempted robbery occurred on the 800 block of 1st Street NE about 6:45 p.m.
The victim was walking about a block north of Union Station when two people came up to him, according to authorities. They then asked him if he would complete a survey.
The man declined and started to walk away. But the two people punched him in the head.
