Sunday afternoon was the perfect time for the Annual Stonewall Kickball Dragball tournament game the JR’s and Cobalt divisions. The game took place at Stead Recreational Park (1625 P Street NW). Neighbors and and fans jointed the fun. Players were there on time and, in-between dresses, heels and hats, the game started.

The Tug of War was part of haft-time festivities as was an eating competition and a run of the bases in drag. JR’s division won the kickball game by a score of 10-7.

The event was presented by JR’s and Cobalt, and donations raised help The DC Center.

With a crowd of 500-plus people cheering the action, Stonewall Kickball held its second annual Drag Kickball festivities on Sunday at Stead Park Field on P Street NW. The winner was the Cobalt Division, beating the division from JR’s Bar & Grill by a score of 4-0. The event benefited The DC Center for the LGBT community and Capital Pride.

Sadly, the tug-of-war between competing teams of Stonewall Kickers was not part of this year’s festivities as it was in 2011.

The event was presented by JR’s and Cobalt. Sponsors of Sunday’s event included Bar Number Nine, Pizza No. 17, Town Dance Boutique, VIDA Fitness, Washington Hilton, Jimmy Kickit, Looks by Dorothy, Bukkicke, 21st Amendments, Sit On My Base, Whornets, Oprah’s Ball Club, Hotmess Kickers, Public Enemy and Harder, Faster.

We got pics!

It was Drag Kickball on Sunday evening, June 5, at Stead Park Field and hundreds of Borderstanis turned out for the fun. The event was sponsored by Stonewall Kickball and Capital Pride. The winner of the kickball competition was the team from Nellie’s Sports Bar (led by Miss Shiqueeta Lee) while the winner of the dance competition was the “Bottoms Up” team.

As Capital Pride billed the event on their website, “Two teams of local Drag Queens and members of the Stonewall Kickball league dressed in drag will compete to determine who the Queens of the Ball really are. Who will win? Who will cry? Most importantly, who will lose their weave?”
