(Corrected at 2:16 p.m.) A man was shot and injured early this morning near one of the busiest parts of the 14th Street corridor, say D.C. Police.

Police say the victim was shot while walking on the sidewalk at the 1800 block of 15th Street NW around 2:20 a.m.

Ted’s Bulletin, Doi Moi, Black Cat, Garden District and other popular 14th Street destinations lie just one block from the crime scene.

The man was taken from the scene to the hospital, but police would not release his condition or whether his injuries were life threatening.

There were no related arrests, and police have not identified any suspects related to the shooting.

Known for their take on classic American food (think pop tarts, milkshakes, omelets and meatloaf), at their Barracks Row location, Ted’s Bulletin keeps getting closer to opening at 1818 14th Street NW.

The new location will have a heavy emphasis on baked goods and pastries, and will even have its own entrance for the bakery counter. (Hence, I make it my business to watch the restaurant’s progress.)

Ted’s Bulletin second location will be opening at the DC District complex. The facade is almost ready and the inside details are close, too. The 14th Street location will be twice the size of the Capitol Hill location, with 170 seats in the main dining room and an additional eight to 10 seats in the café area.

The hours of the new Ted’s Bulletin will be the same as the Capitol Hill location: 7 am until 10:30 pm on weekdays and until 11:30 pm on weekends.

An opening date has not been officially set.

Now leasing: Apartments at the District. (Courtesy of District)

On Wednesday, Bozzuto Management Company announced that District, a mixed-use seven-story apartment building at 14th and S streets NW, sold and is now leasing. Both Ted’s Bulletin and Doi Moi are slated to open on the ground-floor of the building.

Urban Turf reports that District was originally planned as condos, but ended up being smaller units: 85 percent are studios and one-bedrooms, and the remaining 15 percent are two-bedrooms. The construction on the building wrapped-up in January.

“We are pleased to soon open District, a unique and urbane residence in DC’s vital Logan Circle neighborhood,” said Julie Smith, president of Bozzuto Management Company, in a press release. “At the crossroads of luxury living and smart growth, District offers outstanding amenities and an ideal location for residents who enjoy a walkable, urban lifestyle near retail, restaurants and Metro.”

The building also includes a roof deck with an outdoor living area, outdoor bar, dining cabana, entertaining kitchen, gas grills, fire pit and water feature and underground parking.

We’ve known for a while that Ted’s Bulletin is coming to 14th and S Streets NW. The location for the second comfort food café (the original is in Barracks Row) will be just across the street from the owners’ other newly opened restaurant, matchbox.

The 14th Street location will have a heavy emphasis on baked goods and pastries, and will even have its own entrance for the bakery counter.

Rebecca Albright, who runs the pastry menu at Ted’s Bulletin in Capitol Hill, will oversee the pastry program. She is planning to bring poptarts, donuts and “other clever twists on American favorites.”

While an opening date has not been officially set, the owners are aiming to open the new space in April.

Ted’s Bulletin will be opening its second location in the ground floor of The District apartment complex (14th Street NW) in early 2013, according to announcement late last week from the restaurant and the developer of apartment complex. The project, which runs along the west side of 14th Street from S to Swann, will have 125 rental units as well as ground-floor retail; it is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Ted’s Bulletin, located the Barrack’s Row section of Capitol Hill on 8th Street SE, is known for its “homespun staples like mac and cheese, meatloaf and tomato soup, as well as an extensive brunch menu with à la carte items including homemade pop tarts.” The 14th Street restaurant will have 180 seats and an extensive baked goods lineup.

The same owners of Ted’s Bulletin will be opening another location of  famed pizza/ pasta/wine bar Matchbox at the northwest corner of 14th and T Streets NW. There are three other Matchbox locations in the DC area (two in the city), plus one in Palm Springs, California. Matchbox bills itself as “vintage pizza bistro.” In addition to Ted’s Bulletin and Matchbox, the owners also opened DC-3 on 8th Street SE.

Owners of Estadio and Proof are opening a Southeast-Asian themed restaurant in the District development, which was announced last month. The District is a project of The JBG Companies and Grosvenor Americas.

What is on your Borderstan wish list? What would you like to see included in all of this development?

Ted’s Bulletin and Matchbox Coming to Borderstan!

Good news for Borderstanis who love supporting local chains — the matchbox group is bringing two of their restaurants to our ‘hood.  For those in need of a chilly adult-beverage, Ted’s Bulletin will be bringing their shakes, the tasty homemade pop tarts and all the other goodies to us. Washington City Paper reports that restaurant will be one of two tenants at District Condos on 14th Street.  As things cool down, you can warm up with a woodfired pizza from Matchbox, also brought to our attention by Washington City Paper. That’s delicious news!
