On Wednesday, March 6, join fellow bikers and bike advocates for a congressional briefing on the next-generation infrastructure for biking.
At the briefing, leaders will explore the idea of “green lanes,” which are cost-effective lanes that reduce crashes, encourage biking and benefit pedestrians and cars by creating a designated space for bikes.
A new report from the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) shows that many of the crashes involving injury to pedestrians and cyclists in the 2010-2012 period took place in Borderstan’s neighborhoods, so Wednesday’s meeting will benefit many Borderstan commuters.
Also planned for the briefing:
- Transportation leaders will share their experiences in addressing commuting challenges.
- A leader from the D.C. Downtown Business Improvement District will discuss interest in improving urban mobility and safe bicycling.
- The Green Lane Project will discuss how Congress can help to implement safe and effective changes.
The briefing will take place from 3:30 until 5 pm in the Congressional Meeting North Room.
