Chruch Street-Keegan Theatre Dupont Circle

New shows open this week at three of the five theaters in the area — Keegan Theatre at Church Street, the Source and Studio Theatre. Next week, a new show opens at Theater J. Here’s the lineup.

At the Studio Theatre, 1501 14th Street NW, Marcus; Or the Secret of Sweet opens tonight, January 5 and runs through February 13. Check showtimes and ticket information.

A Shadow of Honor opens this Friday at The Keegan Theatre at Church Street, 1742 Church Street NW: “From the playwright who brought DC audiences A House in the Country and An Island of No Land At All comes a compelling story of history and family, love and war. Keegan Theatre is proud to present the world premiere of Peter Coy’s A Shadow of Honor, where past and present collide as a new generation faces the repercussions of war — and something has to give.” Tickets are $35; $30 for students and seniors.

Opening this Saturday at the Source, 1835 14th Street NW: The In Series presents Pocket Opera: Ernesto Lecuona’s María la O and Ruggiero Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci [Clowns]. Show runs through January 22. Ticket prices online.

Return To Haifa opens Saturday, January 15 at Theater J, 16th and Q Streets NW.

You have four choices this weekend at theaters in the Dupont-Logan-U Street area:

  • Ending this weekend at the Source Theater on 14th Street is a production by The In Series. The theater group is billing the show as “a double bill of American ‘pocket’ opera: Leonard Bernstein’s Trouble In Tahiti and William Bolcom and Arnold Weinstein’s Casino Paradise.” The double production begins at 8 pm and runs through this Saturday, October 2.
  • Something You Did at Theater J ends this weekend with the final performance this Sunday at 8 pm. Of the show, Theater J says, “A stellar student from a good family, Alison Moulton is serving her 30th year behind bars for an anti-war bombing that resulted in the death of a police officer. Now petitioning for parole…” Theater J is at 16th and Q NW in the DC Jewish Community Center.
