The Joan Hisaoka Healing Arts Gallery at Smith Farm on U Street NW has been under construction since last fall. Despite being in transition, the gallery has continued to present art through its “IN-FLUX window peek-show.”

Local artist John M. Adams’ “Efflux” drawing installation and accompanying video documenting the process has been on display at the storefront as part of this series since January 14. Last night, he concluded the exhibition with an interactive street art performance in which he placed the work on the sidewalk for pedestrians to walk on. In addition, Adams stood behind the storefront window drawing on the glass with a black dry erase marker.
Brazilian jazz guitarist Richard Miller will perform Saturday, June 5, from 7 to 9 pm, at The Joan Hisaoka Healing Arts Gallery. Miller is performing at the gallery in collaboration with the DC Jazz Festival and will perform a two-set solo.
