An ice scraper and an umbrella might come in handy this weekend.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from midnight Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday with sleet and freezing rain expected to come into the area, creating icy roads, according to the National Weather Service. The temperature Saturday eventually is expected to rise from the 20s to the 40s, turning the precipitation into rain.

On Sunday, the high temperature could reach the upper 50s. But showers are in the forecast.

ZoolLights at the National Zoo

Cold weather that is moving across the country will stick around in D.C. for Saturday and Sunday.

If you head out to see ZooLights at the National Zoo or a 16th Street home’s dazzling light display, you might want to bundle up.

Daytime temperatures only are expected to reach the upper 30s, with lows in the upper 20s Saturday and upper 30s Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. Although Saturday will be dry, rain likely will fall Sunday night.

Looking to express gratitude for President Barack Obama as he prepares to leave the White House?

The kiosk near 18th Street and Columbia Road NW now has a “#AdMoThanksObama” chalkboard for well-wishers to leave messages for Obama.

If you head outside in Adams Morgan or other neighborhoods around D.C., partly sunny skies will prevail Saturday, with the temperature getting up to the upper 40s, according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature also is expected to reach the upper 40s Sunday, but under cloudy skies.

Thanksgiving is nearly here and D.C. is a ghost town. Hopefully, all your holiday preparations are done and you’re already relaxing.

If you’re here in D.C. this week, you’ll get some standard fall weather with a high temperatures in the low-to-upper 50s through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service. Thanksgiving could be rainy, but it’s expected to be sunny and clear this weekend, forecasters said.

Halloween is coming early in Shaw this weekend.

The Shaw Dog Park is holding its annual “Howl-O-Ween” with canines in colorful costumes Saturday. Glen’s Garden Market in Shaw also is throwing a “Shawlloween” party with pumpkin decorating, face painting and food then.

Saturday should be dry most of the day, but breezy, with highs likely only reaching the lower 60s, according to the National Weather Service. Sunny skies are expected to prevail Sunday, which should have highs in the upper 60s.

  • The Dupont Z-Burger recently featured in a viral video with a rat is closed temporarily while its owner makes some adjustments to the restaurant.

There’s also a watch party at the Black Cat (1811 14th St. NW), which is celebrating the release of the book, “The Donald: How Trump Turned Presidential Politics Into Pro Wrestling.”

PorchFest, Adams Morgan’s annual fall music festival, is returning with three dozen free concerts in front of a dozen homes and businesses in the neighborhood Saturday.

It might drizzle Saturday, but the sun should make an appearance, helping the temperature rise to the upper 70s, according to the National Weather Service. On Sunday, the sun is expected to be out in full force, bringing the temperature up to the high 70s.

Though the summer is basically gone, it’s still hot out there. And this weekend will be no exception.

Luckily, District spray parks set to close for the season this week will stay open through Sunday.

There’s a slight chance the D.C.-are will get some rain Saturday night, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures are expected to hit the upper 90s Saturday and mid 80s Sunday.

Here’s what else you need to know to make the most of your weekend:

  • Adams Morgan’s annual neighborhood festival, Adams Morgan Day, is slated to bring crowds to 18th Street NW for food, music, art and games Sunday.
  • ANC 1B, the neighborhood commission that represents parts of U Street, Shaw, Columbia Heights and LeDroit Park, will hold a community cleanup day at Girard St. Park (15th and Girard St. NW) at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Organizers will provide tools, water, and free ANC shirts.
  • Another neighborhood cleanup will happen at the 26th Street Park (26th St. NW at the foot of Queen Anne’s Lane NW) in Foggy Bottom Saturday at noon.
  • Pooches can plunge into Francis Pool at 2435 N St. NW Saturday as part of the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation’s eighth annual Doggie Day Swim, according to the agency. The festivities are scheduled to run from noon to 4 p.m.
  • Stead Park (16th and P streets NW) will have a free concert Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
  • Costumed characters are set to gather at several Dupont Circle bars Saturday during a superhero-themed bar crawl event.
