Tonight is the Dupont Circle Village (DCV) Annual Silent Aution. DCV is a neighborhood nonprofit organization that enables residents to remain in their homes and community as they grow older. DCV’s annual auction and fundraiser will be held at the Woman’s National Democratic Club, 1526 New Hampshire Avenue NW, from 6:30 pm until 10 pm.
Tickets are $35 per person in advance; $45 at the door. This year participants will be entertained by the swing band, “Some Like it Hot,” while they enjoy food and drinks.
DCV lists some of the following items up for auction this year: “It is time to forget the winter and get ready for a wonderful destination. How about France (Paris, Provence or the Tarn), a country home in beautiful Rappahannock County, Nemacolin Woods Resort in Pennsylvania, the Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels, Maryland or closer to home in downtown DC at the Hilton Hotel. Start packing with Brooks Brothers leather luggage, a superb Moroccan carpetbag or, if you like to travel light, a large Louis Vuitton sac bag.”
Auction proceeds benefit DCV. The organization’s goal is to help people to “live independent, healthy and vibrant lives in familiar surroundings.” All services and benefits are provided at no cost to members by volunteers.

Break out your checkbook, it’s time to “Spring Forward with the Village.” The annual silent auction, which benefits local non-profit Dupont Circle Village (DCV), will take place on Saturday, March 10 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm at the Woman’s National Democratic Club at 1526 New Hampshire Avenue NW.

“Spring Forward with the Village will feature more than 120 stunning entries. In addition to rare antiques, original art, and coveted theater tickets, participants can bid on a week’s stay in an elegant Paris apartment. While perusing the goods, attendees will enjoy hors d’oeuvres from around the world and cool tunes by the local quintet, Some Like it Hot.
“An historic building, great food and drinks, good company and tantalizing and unique offerings waiting for you to take them home – there’s no better way to spend an evening and support the Village,” says Dupont Circle Village President Peggy Simpson.
Dupont Circle Village promotes healthy community living for its retirement-age members. DCV relies heavily on volunteers to provide services to Villagers, including transportation, home repairs, errands and computer tech support. The Village also offers educational, social and cultural programs for its members and the greater community. Check out their website to learn more.
